Interventions

Women Self Help Group

Freedom Foundation strives to empower women economically and decide for the family for good health and education. Hence, the concept of Self Health Group has been a very successful one in redeeming women and their families from the clutches of financial crisis.

Farmers’Self Help Group

Agriculture is the back bone of India. Freedom Foundation reaches out to farmers who aspire to be more productive and ecofriendly. Farmers are empowered with knowledge on traditional and modern cultivation, latest technologies to make agriculture easy, organic farming, cropping and seedling, Market linkages and more.

Health and Sanitation

Freedom Foundation organized frequent health and sanitation awareness programmes even in the unreachable corners of the rural communities. Health camps, blood donation awareness campaigns, sanitation awareness programmes for rural women and adolescents.

Skill Development Training

Freedom Foundation is constantly emphasizing the need for skill development among the rural women towards sustainable livelihood. Vocational training such as; Tailoring, embroidery, screen printing, Eco friendly products for the daily human life. Life skills and leadership skills training are given to rural women and youth to ensure their participation for making decisions for self, family and society.

Capacity Building of Civil Societies

Freedom Foundation believes in building a strong national by building the capacity of civil societies. Self Help Groups, Farmers’ Groups, Youth Groups, Schools, Colleges and NGOs are helped to enhance their capacity through training, research and consultancy.

Rural Livelihood

Livelihood is understood as an important right of every citizen of India. However, livelihoods of rural communities are at stake due to social and environmental changes. Freedom Foundation is paving a way for sustainable livelihood to the rural, urban, tribal and the people living in slums.

Conscientization

Conscientization is an inevitable aspect of social change. Freedom foundation gives more space for creating awareness on various social hitches such as; poor girl child education, early marriage, female infanticide, domestic violence, unskilled women, widows and more. It creates awareness on how women can transform their lives more valuable to their society.

 

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Dr.A.Ramachandran, MSW., MBA., M.Phil.

He bloomed from a remote village called Ezharuvi, there was only a little wealth in his family, so funding even the most basic education for Mr. Ramachandran was a struggle. Despite, he completed Master’s degree in Social Work at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, Tamilnadu, India to ensure his purposeful and transforming life to hand hold unreached and hopeless. He made it possible from almost nothing to something useful to the people in social and economic vulnerability. In a decade, he could reach out to beyond his ability and marching forward to do more to create and empower community based organizations to own the process of inclusive social change and social justice.

During his journey, he worked with MYRADA-NGO for three years as District Coordinator in the UNICEF gallery and Manager at Community Based Resource Centre (CMRC) covering Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri Districts. Another two years, he was a Programme Manager in Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, during the course he was awarded and recognized as best performer. Next seven years, he was a Regional Head for the HDFC Bank.

His dream of owning the responsibility of running a Non-Governmental organization came true and now marching towards ensuring inclusive social change and social justice.

He was awarded Honorary Doctorate for Best Social Service and also got Mahatma Gandhi Best Social Worker Award.
 

OUR HISTORY

 
Hardships of social, economic and health deprivation sowed the seeds of growing beyond obstacles and to give back the best in return positive to the the marginalized sections of the society. Mr. Ramachandran bloomed from a remote village called Ezharuvi, he had a zeal to make himself useful to the vulnerable people. Hence, he completed Master’s degree in Social Work at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur to ensure his purposeful and transforming life to hand hold unreached and hopeless.

Freedom Foundation was started in 2010 as a Public Charitable Trust. The mission was started with supporting rural women through formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs). More emphasize was given in vocational skill training and livelihood support and hence, tailoring skill training was started in the same year. Around 1700 rural women have been trained in tailoring along with life skills and ensured with livelihood sustainability.

Enhanced the decision making power of women by training them in leadership skills and made them as animators and facilitators of SHGs. They are the pillars of all initiatives of Freedom Foundation.

Freedom Foundation considers farming as a sacred work and hence, farmers have been supported through the formation of Farmers Groups through which their traditional farming skills along with the modern skills enhanced.

Freedom Foundation believes in scientific approach in addressing social issues and to bring in sustainable development. Hence, it supports the non-governmental organization, academic institutions and industries to carryout their researches and assess.

Skill training and livelihood support is the need of the hour, hence, Freedom Foundation has reached out to number of rural adolescent girls and women through vocational skill training, financial support and livelihood support.

Networking is the manthra of national development and so Freedom Foundation makes it possible attempt to network with local organizations, educational institutions, government departments and industries. Through this, number of awareness programmes, skill training and livelihood support to rural women were possible.
